Welcome to Second Grade at
St. Mary School Mrs. Schaefer
Second grade is a year of interesting discoveries! We learn about fossils and dinosaurs, weather and plants and animals. We explore the planets and the moon on a trip to the planetarium. We learn how to add and subtract double digit and triple digit numbers. We also read a lot of great stories, books and plays. We create memory books and write about the things we are learning. And of course there is CURSIVE handwriting! Most importantly we learn about God’s unconditional love for us in the sacrament of Reconciliation and we become closer to Jesus as we prepare to celebrate First Communion.
I feel especially blest to be part of such a caring and supportive learning community. I have earned Master of Arts degrees in Elementary Education and Reading and Literacy from Roosevelt University, and I am particularly interested in helping children develop their reading and writing skills. I truly enjoy teaching second graders because they are so eager to learn about new things.
