St. Mary’s Running Club
(if sidewalks are clear)
- The only absolutely necessary equipment for running is a good pair of running shoes. Not basketball shoes, not stylish sneakers, not Sketchers, not Velcro.
- Good places for shoes: Kohl’s or Dick Pond’s in St. Charles or Carpentersville
- In March, after school, we may have weather warm enough to wear shorts. That is a matter of preference. I would pack both shorts and tights/sweats each running day. Running “tights” are legging-type stretch pants and can be found in the women’s workout department of most stores. Boys can wear women’s, they’re exactly the same. If you wear sweats they should not be loose at the ankle or dragging on the ground.
- Layers on top work best: light nylon jacket or sweatshirt over long or short sleeve tee is advised. Big, heavy sweatshirts get too bulky. You want to be able to take a layer off and tie around your waist as you warm up.
- Hat or ear warmer, stretchy 1-size-fits-all-gloves.
-
St. Mary Running Club knit hats will be on sale for $10.
- A water bottle for before and after we run, a light snack is recommended before running: a banana, an apple, some pretzels, or a granola bar.
Hope to see you every Thursday at 2:30pm!
