ATTENDANCE POLICY
2010-2011 School Year
Attendance is expected at all Religious Education classes. The only excused absences are due to illness or emergency.
Student absences MUST be called in to the St. Mary Religious Education Office, at (847) 888-2718, on or before that class day. Please do not call the school or parish number, as we cannot check for messages on those lines. If a family has not reported a student’s absence in advance, we will contact that family immediately during the class time to verify the absence. This is to ensure the safety and whereabouts of your children.
Students in grades 3-8 who are tardy must check in at the school office and receive a tardy slip before being admitted to class. (The office is at the top of the stairs) Students in PK-2nd go directly to their classrooms and their Catechist will let the office parent know the student was tardy.
The Director of Religious Education will request a meeting with a student’s family if:
-There is a pattern of repeated absences. -A continued lack of responsibility is shown in reporting student absences.
Students who miss class are expected to make up any missed work. Missed work will be assigned after the student returns to class.
Our most important goal is the safety of our students. Please partner with us to teach them responsibility through good example. Encourage perfect attendance and report absences. Thank you for your cooperation.
