To:     Sunday R.E.P. Parents

From: Deacon Hank Orlik

            Director of Religious Education

            St. Mary Church of Elgin

Subject:  Procedures for drop-off and pick-up for R.E.P. classes

Date:    September, 2009

Help us keep your children safe by following these simple rules:

1.  All grade level students should arrive at the lobby of the main school building between 9:50 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

2.  NOTE:  Children in the Preschool class should be picked up at

11:08 a.m. at the Parish office building by a parent or older sibling.

3.  NOTE:  Children in the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade mobile classrooms should be picked up, at 11:08 a.m. in person, by an older sibling or a parent.  The catechists will not allow your child to leave the classroom alone to go into the parking lot or to the curb at Gifford Street.

4.  Any parents/students who cross Gifford Street MUST do so at the CROSSWALK!   Please set a good example for your children and use the crosswalk!!  Sunday morning traffic is heavy as people arrive at Mass.  There is NO PARKING on the school side of Gifford Street at the risk of being ticketed by the Elgin Police.  We won't allow children to go to Fulton Street or Prairie Street to meet rides—there is no way to monitor their safety on those streets!

5.  Classes end at 11:08 a.m.  Please be prompt in picking up your child.

Many catechists attend 11:15 a.m. Mass and would like to attend Mass on time.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the Religious Education Office at (847) 888-2718.
