St. Mary Religious Education Program Policies
*Registration in R.E.P. classes is available to registered parishioners of St. Mary’s.
*Students registering for a grade which includes sacramental preparation, such as 2nd grade (Reconciliation and Communion) or
7th/8th grade (Confirmation), must complete one year of religious education prior to entering that grade level.
*Regular attendance is expected of all students in religious education classes. Student absences must be called in to the St. Mary Religious Education Office prior to class, if the absence is not called in you will receive a call from the Attendance Parent, during class time. It is essential that we have all students accounted for each session.
Students who arrive late for class must first check in at the school office before going to the classroom.
*Progress Reports are distributed twice during the school year. Parents are asked to review their students’ progress reports, then sign and return them to the catechist.
*Arrival and dismissal takes place at the St. Mary School lobby. Arrival should take place 5-10 minutes before classes begin. Students should be picked up promptly at dismissal. For student safety we ask that no students cross Gifford Street or leave the front of school and the parking lot in order to meet his/her ride. Early dismissal is not permitted unless arranged in advance with the R.E.P. Office staff.
*Weather related cancellations of R.E.P. classes will be recorded on the office voice mail message and forwarded to Elgin radio stations, WRMN - 1410 am, and WJKL 94.3 fm or visit www.emergencyclosings.com.
